The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has won the Best Middle East Green Initiative Award for its “Green” Data Centre. Instituted by the London-based international consulting firm BroadGroup for organizations demonstrating outstanding service quality, management excellence and technical achievement in data centre industry, the award was presented to the agency at the 2nd Data Centre Strategies Middle East Conference in Abu Dhabi.
As part of the green initiative, the EAD ensures that all IT equipment procured would be Energy Star standard-compliant. Desktop computers of all employees have been replaced with EPEAT Gold-rated laptops, enabling more than 50 percent savings in energy consumption.
